WHAT DO YOU NEED TO PAINT WITH FLUID ACRYLICS? Materials for the first steps
FLUID PAINTING, also known as Fluid Art or Acrylic Pouring, has depopulated all over the world in recent years, arousing the interest of artists (and others) of all ages.
There are many techniques, from the simplest and most basic to the most complicated, which allow us to obtain effects of all kinds: from clear and well-defined lines to canvases covered with cells, from grids to shaded colours.
Fluid Painting techniques can be learned by everyone, but many artists or aspiring artists make the mistake of thinking they are intuitive, and it almost always happens that the frustration of the failure takes over and makes them stop trying.
Mainly the reason for failure is using wrong products; each technique requires the use of certain products, with certain characteristics!
In this article we will not deal with the different techniques but if you are a beginner you will find what you need to start experimenting with the art of fluid acrylic! I will briefly list the materials you will need with attached links to my favorite products, with which I have always achieved excellent results right from the start!
ACRYLICS : Obviously to practice the Acrylic Pouring technique you will need acrylic colors! You can use any brand of acrylic on the market. na

MEDIUM : to use fluid acrylics you will have to prepare them in a certain way, i.e. mix them with a medium, which will make them suitable for casting, providing them with smoothness and helping to dry well, level and without cracks.
There are many on the market; for basic techniques you can also use vinyl glue .
My favorite mediums are:

TORCH : this tool is indispensable for creating the cells and for bursting the air bubbles left in the colour.

CANVAS : for the acrylic casting it is advisable to use good quality canvases as the large quantity of color that remains on it to dry, with humidity risks bending the wooden structure.
The canvases I use are:

PINS : very useful for keeping the canvas raised from the work surface. Avoid placing it on unstable supports such as plastic cups!

SILICONE OIL : for the simplest basic techniques and above all to learn how to create the first cells!

SPLIT CUP : there are different types and they are fantastic for creating spectacular effects!
SPATOLE: ti serviranno per eseguire degli swipe, per rimuovere il colore dai bordi della tela e per raccoglierlo dal piano di lavoro.
TAVOLO GIREVOLE: per alcune tecniche potrebbe servirvi un tavolo girevole, utile ad allargare il colore senza distorcerlo.

Of course you will also need containers (for example plastic cups, bottles, etc.) to mix the colour!
I also recommend paper tape to protect the back of the canvas, gloves to protect your hands and not to get dirty, spatulas and scottex to keep close at hand.
